We're happy to announce our growing partnership with Junior
Achievement. They are the world's largest organization dedicated to
educating students about college and career readiness,
entrepreneurship and financial literacy through hands-on programs.
On June 4, "BBB Day at BizTown," the Better Business Bureau needs
10-12 volunteers from Accredited Businesses to help guide 6th grade
students from Sandford Middle School with their BizTown
experience.
BizTown, located in Maplewood, Minn. is a 10,000 square-foot
mini-town where kids in 4th-6th grade enjoy a hands-on experience
operating business for a day! In partnership with Junior
Acheivement, we've also added a BBB office to the town and
integrated the Accreditation process into the students' learning
experience. The details for the day are as follows:
Date: Monday, June 4, 2012
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Junior Achievement of the Upper
Midwest -- 1800 White Bear Avenue North, Maplewood, MN (Enter
through Door B on south side of building)
Volunteer Arrival Time: 9:30 a.m. (JA will a
conduct a training for all volunteers before students arrive)
Volunteer Role: Volunteers will guide a small
group of students as they work in one of 14 businesses and help
them make important business and personal finance decisions.
School: Sanford Middle School, Minneapolis
(110 6th graders)
Lunch: Please make sure to bring a lunch.
Volunteers will eat with students during their lunch break.
Dress: Casual
Parking: Plenty of free parking is available.
Please park on the west side of the building.
This is a great opportunity for us to connect with the future
workforce and instill the importance of creating and following
ethical standards in business. Volunteers will receive on-site
training before students arrive and must be available from 9:30
