The first-ever BBB "Good Eggs & Scams" event with the St.
Paul Saints was everything it was "cracked" up to be! It was a
wonderful night for baseball, and started off with more than 75 BBB
staffers and Accredited Businesses enjoying a pre-game networking
event with complementary beer and pretzels.
When the gates opened at 6 p.m. we had an Easter Bunny, several
Saints interns, and a Nigerian prince helping to pass out more than
2,000 "Good Eggs" with fun items and great BBB Tips. We had a shady
character with a briefcase and "Johnny Vegas" working the crowds
and offering "deals" throughout the night. The concourses were
lined with old BBB ads and logos. The BBB booth at the front gate
was busy with a steady line of people spinning the wheel for fun
prizes. At Best Buy's Geek Squad booth fans quickly snapped up the
candy and the T-shirts. A young boy, Adrian (and his father Ron),
got the lucky egg for a 42" flat screen TV, donated by Best Buy!
The TV was proudly presented on top of the dugout right after the
7th inning stretch. We had representative from two Accredited
Business 100+ year old companies (Moore Costello and Hart and
Securian) throw out the first pitch (after Johnny Vegas did his
"first SALES pitch" of the night). Lisa Jemtrud, Director for the
BBB Institute of Marketplace Ethics, did a great interview with the
Saints Radio team during the third inning. The rest of the night
was filled with more announcements, tips and skits with the
entertainers.
For those of you who didn't make the game, the Saints were
trailing at the end of the game, but tied it up 5-5 in the 9th
inning. The Saints eventually defeated the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks
7-6 with a thrilling walk off homer by Jose Hernandez in the 11th
inning. The official attendance was 3,452 fans - who had an
"egg-cellent" night of baseball, and learned more about their BBB
and other Accredited Business "Good Eggs!"
