The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB), the first BBB in the world, will mark their 100th anniversary on Wednesday, October 17. A century ago on this date, the first meeting of the Vigilance Committee - which became the BBB - was held in downtown Minneapolis, in the Andrus Building.

On April 17, the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB) along with the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business convened the first-ever Business Ethics Summit. The Summit, part of the BBB’s year-long Centennial Celebration, was an all-day event in downtown Minneapolis which brought together more than 100 business owners, ethics officers from leading firms, academics and students for an interactive dialogue on the importance of ethics in the marketplace. It was moderated by KSTP’s Tom Hauser.

The BBB was founded in Minneapolis back in 1912 by civic-minded business leaders who banded together to promote truth in advertising and sought to establish a marketplace where buyers and sellers could trust each other. It has since expanded to 122 BBBs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
